[NEWS] SilkAir launches flight route to Colombo, Sri Lanka

On 8 April 2017, SilkAir (regional wing of Singapore Airlines) launched its inaugural flight to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. With the addition of this thrice-weekly flight, SilkAir will now travel to 53 destinations across 15 countries.

As per customs, MI428 departed Singapore Changi Airport at 8.50am and arrived at Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport at 10.05am where it received the traditional water canon salute.

Colombo offers a rich heritage and varied experiences for travellers to explore the beauty of the country. The launch of the SilkAir flights complement Singapore Airline’s current daily flights to Colombo and allow more budget-conscious travellers to explore this unique ocean city.

Need to know:

  • The thrice-weekly flights are scheduled on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Flights will operate on a Boeing 737-800 with Business and Economy Class cabins
  • Baggage allowance are 40kg and 30kg Business and Economy Class respectively
