[NEWS] Milan’s Latest Chic Hotel

Oh Milan, what is there not to love of this Italian city! It is the global capital for fashion and design, and home to some of the world’s most famous cathedrals, restaurants and shops. March 2017 will see a new addition to the city’s blooming tourism frontier – a new hotel set in the hip Porta Volta neighbourhood – Hotel Viu Milan.

The 124-room Design Hotels™ member is surrounded by an exquisite cross section of Milanese culture: from centuries-old historical monuments to grand shopping boulevards and cool drinking dens. Within the elegant establishment itself, in-house Michelin-starred chef and a spectacular rooftop pool (The VIU) await to satisfy the needs of discerning guests.

The VIU is the only hotel rooftop in Milan with an outdoor swimming pool, featuring a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Teak lounge furniture is set amidst Mediterranean olive trees to create an urban oasis, one where guests can while away halcyon hours between dips in the pool.

Architects Arassociati Studio sought design inspiration from the urban regeneration within the neighbourhood. The hotel is constructed with sustainably-sourced wood, metal and bronzed glass while the striking facade comprised undulating pattern of indentions and projections that define each storey.

Interior wise, the hotel has adopted a neutral colour palette enhanced by wood paneling of walnut, durmast, and rosewood, that echoes the lines of classic design pieces in the room. Parquet oak wood floors also contrast perfectly against the light colours and bespoke fabrics, alongside the natural sunlight coming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
